Vielse

Hvis du ønsker en borgerlig vielse i Thisted Kommune, kan den foretages af borgmesteren, et kommunalbestyrelsesmedlem eller en administrativ giftefoged.  

Thisted Kommune tilbyder borgerlige vielser i respektfulde rammer.

På denne side finder du relevant information om vielser og de praktiske forhold omkring selve ceremonien.

I Thisted Kommune foregår vielserne på Det Gamle Rådhus, Store Tov 4 – 1. sal, 7700 Thisted. 

Vielse kan finde sted: 

Fredage fra kl. 12:00 

Lørdage fra kl. 14:00 

Vielser på lørdage er forbeholdt borgere med dansk cpr. nr.

Obs – der er ingen vielser på fredage, hvor Thisted kommunes administration holder lukket https://www.thisted.dk/om-kommunen/kontakt-og-aabningstider. 

Brudeparret kan i ægteskabserklæringen ønske en dato for vielsen, men vi kan ikke garantere, at den ønskede dato er ledig, klokkeslættet fastsættes af Borgerservice da vielserne foretages i samme rækkefølge, som ægteskabserklæringerne er blevet modtaget i Borgerservice. 

I kan tidligst få en tid til vielse 14 dage efter, at vi har modtaget jeres prøvelsesattest.

Der er afsat 20 min. til hver vielse – her er inkluderet tid til foto og evt. mindre sammenkomst med gæster. 

Gæster - I er velkomne til at tage gæster med til at overvære vielsen. Der er plads til ca. 50 stående gæster i vielsessalen på Det Gamle Rådhus. 

Elevator – Er I eller jeres gæster gangbesværede, er der mulighed for at benytte elevator. Har I brug for elevator skal vielseskontoret kontaktes senest dagen før vielsen. 

Ris/Konfetti – Thisted Kommune opfordrer til, at der ikke kastes med ris eller bruges konfettirør af hensyn til fugle og miljø. 

Kunstudstilling – I vielseslokalet på Det Gamle Rådhus er der skiftende kunstudstillinger; malerier, relieffer og keramik. 

Det er muligt for Thisted kommunes borgere, samt borgere født og opvokset i Thy, at blive viet på lørdage udenfor Det Gamle Rådhus, f.eks. i naturen i Thy eller hjemme. 

Disse aftaler er individuelle og aftales med vielseskontoret. 

Der skal altid være 2 vidner til at overvære jeres vielse. 

Ved vielser på fredage kan Thisted kommune stille vidner til rådighed, men på lørdage skal I selv medbringe vidner.

Before you can get married in Thisted Municipality, you must apply for a certificate of marital status.
A certificate of marital status is documentation that you meet the conditions in the Danish Act on the Formation and Dissolution of Marriage (Danish Marriage Act)

You must either apply for this certificate of marital status through the Agency of Family Law, or through Thisted Municipality.

Where you should apply depends on your nationalities or your basis for residence in Denmark.
You must apply through Thisted Municipality, if you both meet one of these criteria:

  • You are a Danish or Nordic citizen
  • You have permanent residence permit in Denmark
  • You have a right of permanent residence in Denmark pursuant to the Executive Order on EU Residence.

If both of you do not meet one of these criteria, you must apply through the Agency of Family Law.

After your application at the Agency of Family Law – and if you meet the conditions in the Danish Act on the Formation and Dissolution of Marriage – the Agency of Family Law will provide you with a certificate of marital status, allowing you to get married in Denmark.

If you have chosen to get married in Thisted, the Agency of Family Law will send your approval to Thisted Municipality, and we will wait for you to contact us to arrange an appointment for the wedding.

We do not make appointments or reservations until we receive the certificate of marital status directly from the Agency of Family Law.

You can expect 8 - 10 weeks, from the time we receive the certificate of marital status, until you have an appointment.

We are not able to provide you with a date for next available appointment, before we receive a certificate of marital status with Thisted Municipality  as your chosen Municipality.

In Thisted Municipality we have no cancellation list.

All international couples must attend an ID check the day before the wedding at Thisted Municipality, Borgerservice, Asylgade 30, 7700 Thisted. When arranging the wedding, we will also make an appointment on the time of day for the ID check.

It is important that the ID is identical to the ID used in the case reviewed by the Danish Family Law Agency. Otherwise, the appointment for the wedding will be cancelled.

Two witnesses must be present at the wedding ceremony. You can bring relatives or friends as you witnesses.
The witnesses must be able to understand the language of the ceremony.

We need to be informed of the full names and addresses of your witnesses.
If you do not bring your own witnesses, we will provide two witnesses for you

Wedding ceremonies for international couples who are not registered in Denmark take place at The Old Town Hall, Store Torv 4, 1st floor, 7700 Thisted, from 12:00 only Fridays when the administration is open

After the wedding ceremony, you will receive two international marriage certificates in five different languages (Danish, German, English, French and Spanish).

An apostille is often required, when presenting your marriage certificate to your local authority.

According to Danish legislation, you can only change to your name if you are a resident in Denmark.
After the marriage, if desired, you can apply for a change of name in your country of residence.
